FaceTime reportedly not working on iOS 6 devices

It looks like FaceTime is not working for a number of users with devices running iOS 6, according to MacRumors.
Users are reporting that they’re not able to place or receive FaceTime calls since April 16th.
They are getting a “connection failed” message. According to the discussion thread onApple Support Communities, it also doesn’t seem like a carrier related issue, as users are unable to make FaceTime calls either over Wi-Fi or cellular network.
Meanwhile, Apple hasn’t acknowledged the issue yet. Apple’s System Health page is not reporting any outages.
It is not clear if the issue is affecting all iOS 6 users as MacRumors reports that one user has mentioned that FaceTime was working on a device running iOS 6.1.6, but did not work on a device running iOS 6.0.1.
Users who have contact Apple Support have been told to update their devices to the latest version of iOS to fix the problem. Interestingly, MacRumors points out that Apple recently updated its Knowledge base article about troubleshooting FaceTime issues. It is now recommending users to update their devices to the latest version of iOS as the first troubleshooting step.
If you’ve a device running iOS 6, then let me know if you’re having problems with FaceTime in the comments below.
