HTC unveils the One A9 with a striking resemblance to the iPhone 6s

In September, 2015, Apple announced the iPhone 6s which looks like the iPhone 6. And, to many, the iPhone 6 looked similar to one of HTC‘s handsets from a couple of years ago, the One (M7).
And now we’ve apparently come full circle, as HTC has just announced a new Android-powered handset, which, without much debate, looks a lot like Apple’s iPhone 6/6s. It’s called the One A9 and it’s a handset that hovers over the line between a midrange device and a high-end flagship, with features that will probably stand out to some, and other areas that could probably see some improvement — especially in the Android ecosystem.
Breaking it down, the One A9 has as 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a full 1080p HD resolution, and its made from Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4. Under the hood you’ll find a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor. On the back of the device there’s a 13-megapixel camera, which features things like optical image stabilization, auto-focus, and a sapphire lens cover. On the front, there’s an UltraPixel camera (HTC’s proprietary market speak) with 1080p HD video recording capabilities.
There will be two variants of the handset. One will include 16GB of built-in storage and be paired with 2GB of RAM, while the 32GB model will feature 3GB of RAM. But that’s where the differences end. Both handsets feature a battery that measures in at 2150mAh, as well as a microSD card slot for expandable storage. The One A9 will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Android’s latest version of its operating system, under HTC’s proprietary Sense UI. (For Android fans, HTC says the One A9 will be getting software updates just 15 days after the first Nexus devices get the same software, so that’s something. If it works.)
As far as colors go, there are a few to choose from. That includes Deep Garnet, Opal Silver, Carbon Gray, and Topaz Gold. There are two additional colors, Acid Gold and Cast Iron, but HTC didn’t provide many details about those shades. The phone starts at $399, but that’s a limited-time only price, so at some point in the future it will go up. HTC, however, didn’t say when the promotion will end or how much the price will rise. Those aforementioned colors will have their availability regulated by regions, so not every color will be available to pick up in every market.
Of course, for many, the one takeaway here is that the One A9 looks like Apple’s iPhone 6, which makes it fit into a strange paradox. HTC made a new name for itself in the smartphone market by launching the One M7 in 2013, and when Apple unveiled the iPhone 6 in 2014, well, many folks called out the design similarities in aesthetics. Especially due to those antenna bands. It’s a strange thing to consider that the One A9 looks like an iPhone 6/6s, when the iPhone 6 called back similarities to the One M7. In that sense, is HTC chasing itself?

What do you think, does the One A9 look like the iPhone 6s?
